Happy Birthday Melinda..........

Melinda and son, Davis, on the evening of his high school graduation.......

On August 20th, 1962 a very important event took place in our lives, our firstborn daughter, Melinda Paige was born weighing 7 pounds 4 ounces. She arrived early in the morning. When I began having labor pains, my husband really got excited. I was in the bathroom combing my hair and putting on makeup. He was in the car with the motor running, saying, "if you don't come on, I'm going to leave you!" We were so excited awaiting the arrival of our baby. Back then there were no pregnancy tests. You knew when you began to have morning sickness...and certainly didn't know if the baby would be a boy or girl.....my husband said that that was one package I couldn't open ahead of time....referring to Christmas gifts.....The nursery was ready and waiting. I found a room spray that smelled like baby powder...I would spray the room, close the door and then go back in just to imagine a baby in the room......

Melinda (Mindy) was born with a head full of hair that she never lost......she has always been hot natured......when she was about three years old, the first big word she learned to say was 'air-son-be-ditioner'.....she learned to climb up in a chair and switch it on.....then we didn't have central air.... just window units..........

Mindy has always been self-confident, studious, dependable, very, very, very organized, and when her two boys came along a wonderful mother.........

She has been a school teacher for 23 years.....kindergarten, first grade and back to kindergarten....she would teach if she had to pay them to let her teach.......when she retires, she wants to cut hair......go for it, Mindy!

Her home is well organized, tastefully decorated and inviting. She is a marvelous cook.......

Happy 45th birthday to you Mindy. Daddy and I love you very much......we are so thankful God chose us to be your parents.....

Our other daughter, Amy's birthday is Wednesday and I will say many of the same things about her....
